Have You Been charged with a crime in Maryland?

Experience when it Matters Most
Maryland Criminal Defense Lawyer
I was a prosecutor for 11 years serving as an Assistant State’s Attorney for Baltimore County, handling everything from driving under the influence to rape, murder, and child abuse. In 1999, I received Governor's Citation for leading the prosecution on behalf of the Regional Auto Theft Task Force.
Since starting my private practice in 2001, I have obtained numerous Not Guilty verdicts and many favorable plea agreements, given the particular facts. Having represented watermen and yacht owner’s, I have never lost a boating under the influence case in Maryland to date. If you have been charged with a crime, contact the Law Office of Peter T. McDowell and come in for a free legal consultation.

What do you do if you have been arrested?
Be polite to the police officer and explain that you will cooperate, but only with assistance of your lawyer. You should not make any further statement to the police, as anything you say can be used against you in a court of law.
How do you find a good criminal defense attorney?
I have been on both sides. I spent 11 years prosecuting criminals and the last 20 years defending persons accused of everything from driving under the influence to murder. Aggressively defending the case early is important because there are deadlines for requesting discovery and severing various charges and co-defendants. Also, you have to move to suppress evidence and ask for bills of particulars within a certain time of having been charged.
