About Peter T. McDowell
From the very start of the representation, Mr. McDowell is able to see how the case can and should be presented at trial. For the first 11 years of his career, Mr. McDowell was an Assistant State’s Attorney for Baltimore County. He prosecuted crimes ranging from driving under the influence to rape, murder, and child abuse. At one point, he was the dedicated prosecutor for the Regional Auto Theft Task Force and received the Governor's Citation. After retiring from the State’s Attorney’s Office, Mr. McDowell opened his own law firm. He developed a significant practice of handling serious personal injury cases involving automobile accidents and nursing home cases. Based on Mr. McDowell’s extensive litigation experience and success, a significant number of his cases are referred to him by other attorneys.

Mr. McDowell handles cases that have been appealed, which distinguishes him from many other trial lawyers. He also handles cases from the start of claim through the appeals process and back to the trial court. This brings a unique aspect to any trial lawyer in positioning a case for its best possible outcome. Mr. McDowell has made law five times in Maryland’s highest courts, the Maryland Courts of Appeal. He never stops fighting for his clients.
Because of his reputation and experience as a former prosecutor, he handles criminal defense cases of every nature and achieves exceptional results.
